Zenith is a leading independently owned investment research provider dedicated to the delivery of premium investment research solutions for financial advisors and their clients. Our key areas of expertise are in managed fund research, model portfolio construction and maintenance, and Investment Committee participation. Zenith provides 'advice' based research solutions designed in consultation with each of our clients to match their specific business requirements.
Established in 2002, Zenith is 100% owned by directors and staff and today has one of the largest and most stable research teams in Australia. Zenith does not use external consultants or outsource any research services and has no outside interest in investment products, software platforms, retail distribution or dealer groups.
David Wright is a Managing Partner and joint founder of Zenith Investment Partners, the research business he established in November 2002. David has over 22 years investment industry experience, and is heavily involved in all aspects of the Zenith business, including manager research, model portfolio construction and participation in client investment committee meetings.
Prior to establishing Zenith, David held a position as Head of Research at IWL Ltd, an ASX listed company in which he was also a significant equity holder. In his role at IWL (formerly, IWL and AssetWare) David was responsible for managing a team of managed fund and equity analysts with the objective of producing investment research and ratings / recommendations for advisers and members of the firm's retail investment site. Specifically, David was instrumental in building and further developing IWL's managed investment research methodology and process and expanding the group's distribution of research to financial advisers.
Other prior roles included a position as Associate Director and Head of Managed Funds research at Lonsdale Limited, a national financial planning and stockbroking group, and a position as an investment analyst with the Advisor Group, also a national financial planning group. As a result, David has extensive experience researching, assessing and rating all forms of managed investments including, managed funds, property syndicates, tax effective investments and other managed investment schemes. David is also a former practitioner lecturer of the Securities Institute of Australia (now FINSIA).
David Smythe is a Managing Partner and joint founder of Zenith Investment Partners, the research business he established in November 2002. David has been in the investment industry for over 21 years and is heavily involved in all aspects of the Zenith business, including manager research, model portfolio construction and participation in client investment committee meetings.
Prior to forming Zenith, David held the position of General Manager - Managed Funds at IWL Ltd, an ASX listed company. An equity holder in that business since its establishment, David played an integral role in its growth, and at time of his departure IWL Ltd was an employer of 120+ staff, the largest provider of adviser software, and a top 3 provider of managed funds research.
David commenced his working career with AXA Funds Management in a role providing research to its institutional client base, before moving to Lonsdale Securities as a Senior Investment Analyst.
Ben Davis is a Partner and Head of Investment Consulting at Zenith Investment Partners and has over 15 years industry experience. Ben joined Zenith Investment Partners in October 2003.
Ben is a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and is a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) and the Chartered Alternatives Investment Analyst Association (CAIAA). In 2008, Ben was awarded the BlackRock sponsored CIMA Scholarship for Retail Managed Funds and Master Trust Research Analysts. Since joining Zenith, Ben has been involved in leading manager reviews across a broad range of asset classes including international equities, fixed interest, mortgages, property and alternatives. Ben has completed on-site manager reviews in several of the world’s major financial capitals across the US, Europe and Asia. Ben has also specialised in portfolio construction and the formulation of customised approved product lists for financial advisers, dealer groups and master fund and wrap account providers. This role involved chairing investment committee meetings and presenting portfolio updates to these clients on a regular basis. Ben now focuses on the management of the Sector Research division.
Ben previously held a role as a Senior Investment Analyst at IWL Ltd, where he was a pivotal member of the manager review team. Ben commenced his finance industry career in a project management role at Bridge Information Systems, a global financial software provider, where he helped establish the software provider's presence in the Asia/Pacific region.
Glen Franklin is a Partner and Head of Investment Consulting at Zenith Investment Partners and has over 13 years industry experience. Glen joined Zenith in January 2005, following research roles within both the wholesale and retail markets.
Glen is involved in all aspects of the Zenith business, with a particular focus on constructing client model portfolios and chairing client investment committee meetings. Since joining Zenith, Glen has been involved in leading manager reviews across a broad range of asset classes including Australian equities, international equities, property and alternatives. Glen has completed on-site manager reviews in several major financial capitals, including London, Hong Kong, Boston, Chicago and New York.
Glen’s extensive background in financial services has included an Investment Analyst role at Intech Investment Consultants, followed by a Senior Investment Analyst role at IWL Limited, where he was a vital cog within a two member manager research team.
Glen has successfully completed the Level 1 exam of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.
John is National Sales Manager and is responsible for developing and servicing the investment research requirements of Zenith's financial adviser client base.
With 20 years experience in sales and marketing, the last nine in the financial services industry, John has worked extensively with financial advisers both as a product provider and in the provision of research support. John joined Zenith from the Macquarie Group where he was a Key Account Manager in their real estate funds management division. Prior to that he was Manager of Client Services at PIR, the independent Property Funds Investment research group. John has a Bachelor of Arts and a graduate diploma in Property investment and development with honours from RMIT.
As National Key Account Manager John is responsible for engaging and supporting new and existing key clients through the provision of Zenith’s products and services.
Prior to joining Zenith in October 2013, John worked for over 7 years at Lonsec Research as General Manager, Sales & Client Services, and National Sales and Distribution Manager. The key facets of this role were to service existing research clients and grow subscriber numbers through building relationships with dealer group heads and financial planners. This included conducting ‘pitches’ to new clients, site visits, and presentations across a client base of over 350 dealer groups. The role also included product and offering development and the cross selling of other services in stockbroking and super fund comparators across emerging client markets.
Previously John held roles at the Over Fifty’s Group as Southern Sales Manager and at Invesco Asset Management Australia Limited where he was responsible for sales and client relationships of their Retail & Wholesale Managed Funds products.
Other roles include chief operational roles at County NatWest for 12 years and Lonsdale Financial Dealer Group as assistant to the General Manager.
Bronwen Moncrieff joined Zenith Investment Partners in June 2011 as a Senior Investment Analyst, and was appointed Head of Research in November 2012. Bronwen has over 19 years experience in the investment industry, specialising in the research and evaluation of equities investment managers and the provision of advice to a wide range of clients.
Prior to joining Zenith, Bronwen has held senior analyst roles with several firms, including: the Future Fund, where she was responsible for assisting the Head and Director of Equities in managing the equity component of the Fund; Lonsec, where she was responsible for research, analysis and advice on global equities and long short hedge funds; and Russell Investments, where she was responsible for the identification and evaluation of new U.S. equity manager and product prospects and the analysis and evaluation of U.S. Growth and Small Cap equity managers.
Dugald Higgins is a Senior Investment Analyst at Zenith Investment Partners and has over 13 years’ experience in the investment research industry, specialising in a wide range of alternative asset strategies and investment structures. Dugald Joined Zenith in January 2009 and is responsible for driving Zenith’s investment research across a wide variety of fields including direct property and commodities, ETFs, LICs, Retirement Products and Investment Bonds.
Prior to joining Zenith, Dugald was an Associate Director at Property Investment Research, where he was responsible for the operational management of the business in the research and ratings of A-REITs, unlisted property trusts and syndicates, property securities funds, a wide range of mortgage funds and other property backed debt securities as well as agribusiness funds. Prior to this, Dugald was a Senior Investment Analyst with Adviser Edge Investment Research, a boutique provider of research into the Agribusiness sector.
Dugald comes from an agricultural background and holds an Advanced Diploma in Rural Business Management, a Bachelor of Business and is also an Associate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Dugald’s in-depth knowledge across his specialised fields has resulted in him being regularly sought as an industry commentator in a wide range of national media publications and industry journals.
Steven joined Zenith Investment Partners in June 2008 as an investment analyst in his first role in the financial services industry. Previously Steven worked in the retail pharmacy industry as a practicing pharmacist.
Steven has extensive academic qualifications including a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Commerce, Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment and has successfully completed all 3 levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. He has also completed both levels of the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) program. As such, Steven brings deep analytical skills and knowledge to his role at Zenith.
Andrew Yap is Head of Multi-Asset & Income Research at Zenith Investment Partners and has over 15 years’ experience spanning financial services, corporate advisory, audit and accounting. Andrew joined Zenith in October 2012 and is responsible for investment research for diversified and multi-manager funds.
Prior to joining Zenith, Andrew was head of multi-sector at Standard and Poor’s within the Funds Management Research division where he also retained analytical responsibilities across equities and fixed-interest. Further positions have included Consultant of PPB Advisory and Senior Research Manager at Pitcher Partners Investment Advisory.
Andrew brings to Zenith experience across core asset classes with specialisation in fund manager research, asset allocation, portfolio construction and risk management. He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) and a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).
Rodney Sebire joined Zenith Investment Partners in Jan 2014 as a Senior Investment Analyst. Rodney has over 16 years experience in the investment management industry spanning private client advice, investment consulting, manager research and funds management. Prior to joining Zenith, he was employed with Man Group plc for 8 years holding the position of Research Manager with Man Australia. This position provided Rodney with direct exposure to a range of hedge fund strategies with a particular specialisation in managed futures. In this capacity, he regularly hosted due diligence sessions at Man’s offices in London and Switzerland.
Rodney’s background in financial services has included an Investment Consultant role at Intech Investment Consultants, followed by a Senior Investment Analyst role at IWL Limited. Prior to these roles, Rodney was employed as a Private Client Manager with Ord Minnett where he was also an Accredited Derivatives Advisor.
Quan Joined Zenith Investment Partners in February 2012. Prior to joining Zenith, Quan was a financial markets analyst at the Portland House Group, where he was responsible for the research and implementation of investment/trading strategies as well as the accurate execution of trades. Quan also had a brief stint as a proprietary trader at State One Stockbroking, where he was allocated funds to trade the Australian market based on his own convictions.
Quan has a range of finance related academic qualifications including a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Finance from The University of Melbourne. Quan is also a CFA® Charterholder.
Justin joined Zenith Investment Partners in April 2013. Prior to joining Zenith, Justin was a research analyst at a leading private wealth advisory firm, where he contributed to the construction of portfolios for the firm’s high net worth clients. As part of this process, Justin was responsible for sourcing and conducting due diligence on investments across all asset classes.
Justin is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Finance and Economics from the University of Melbourne. In 2014, Justin was awarded the BlackRock/PortfolioConstruction Forum sponsored CIMA Scholarship.
Joshua joined Zenith Investment Partners in March 2016. Prior to joining Zenith, Joshua was an Investment Analyst at an independent financial advisory firm where he contributed to the management of the firm’s model portfolios which included asset allocation, manager research and investment selection as well performance reporting.
Joshua is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) and holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Economics and Finance from RMIT University.
Thushani joined Zenith Investment Partners in March 2016 and holds a Masters of Applied Finance from Monash University. In addition to this, Thushani also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting, Finance and Financial Planning from Deakin University.
Prior to joining Zenith, Thushani was a Sell-Side Analyst specialising in Frontier markets at a leading Investment Bank overseas. Prior to this Thushani worked as an Associate within the Assurance team at PwC.
Jacob joined Zenith Investment Partners in March 2014 as a graduate from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Commerce.
Prior to joining the Research Team as a Graduate Investment Analyst, Jacob’s first position with Zenith was as a data analyst where he was involved in gathering and examining a wide range of data, predominantly for the purpose of assisting in Zenith’s fund reviews and assessments.
With his strong attention to detail and interest in investments, Jacob is a great addition to the Research Team.
Matthew joined Zenith Investment Partners in June 2015 and holds a Masters of Applied Finance from Monash University. In addition to this, Matthew also holds a bachelor degree in Economics and Finance from RMIT University.
Before joining Zenith, Matthew was a research analyst at a leading private wealth advisory firm, where he assisted in the monitoring and construction of the firm’s portfolios. Prior to this Matthew worked as a client services manager at the same firm.
Dan joined Zenith in February 2017 and holds a bachelor degree in Economics and Finance from RMIT University. Prior to joining Zenith Dan worked as a Financial adviser at a leading wealth management firm where he provided strategic advice across investments, superannuation, risk and financial planning.
Before working in the finance industry Dan worked in hospitality and hotels management including 5 years in London’s luxury hotel industry.
Tom joined Zenith Investment Partners in August 2017 as an Associate Investment Analyst. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Degree from Monash University.
While at university, Tom worked part-time at OC Funds Management as a Research Assistant with a focus on Australian small-cap equities. After graduating from university and prior to starting at Zenith, he worked as an engineer on the NBN Project in Western Victoria.
Penny joined Zenith Investment Partners in February 2014. Penny is responsible for centralising and streamlining the data collection processes.
Penny brings with her over 20 years’ experience in the Automotive and Health Care industries with many of her roles focused on data analysis and process improvements.
Adele joined Zenith Investment Partners in May 2015 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Business from the University of Melbourne.
Adele has previously worked in customer service, operations and business development roles. Her strong quantitative and analytical background is well suited for her role in gathering a wide range of data, predominately for the purpose of assisting in Zenith’s reviews and assessments. This work includes being involved in production of Zenith’s monthly market commentaries and quarterly market reports.
Lalitha joined Zenith Investment Partners in May 2017 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree.
Prior to joining Zenith Lalitha worked in a variety of business sectors including Manufacturing, Telecommunication and Mortgage Broking in office support roles.
Georgio joined Zenith Investment Partners in August 2017 and is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Economics and Finance at the University of Melbourne.
Georgio’s strong attention to detail coupled with his studies ensures that he has the necessary quantitative and analytical skills required for his role.
With over 10 year’s administrative experience, half of which has been within the financial services sector, Kiley joined Zenith in August 2010, providing day to day administrative support to the research team.
Kiley previously worked for the University of Sydney within a customer and student support capacity, Institute of Public Finance (London) as a Personal Assistant to client advisory services managers and IWL Ltd. Kiley’s experience is diverse with a strong customer service focus.
With over 15 year’s administrative experience, half of which has been within the financial services sector, Trudy joined Zenith in November 2007, providing day to day administrative support to the Investment Team.
Trudy previously worked for IWL Ltd as General Manager Administration and provided Executive Assistant support to the CEO. Prior to this, Trudy was employed within the food industry and held various roles, most of which supported high level executives, at Ricegrowers’ Co-operative (SunRice) and ICM Australia Pty Ltd (Uncle Toby’s and Berrivale Orchards).
Manuela joined Zenith Investment Partners in April 2014 and holds a Bachelor of Arts/ Law degree from Monash University. Manuela was admitted to practice in 2004 and brings to Zenith over 10 years of practice experience, five of which have been in house as corporate Legal Counsel.
Before joining Zenith as Legal and Compliance Counsel, Manuela developed strong experience in the financial services sector after working as a part of the Legal and Compliance team at Vanguard Investments Australia and most recently as Legal Counsel for Emirates Leisure Retail Australia, with a strong focus on corporate commercial legal and compliance matters.
Ronelle joined Zenith Investment Partners in July 2015 in a newly formed role as the Company’s Accountant. Ronelle has over 30 years’ experience across accounting and general management capabilities and has had exposure to a broad range of sectors (Eg. manufacturing, construction, telecommunications and wholesale/warehousing).
CPA qualified, Ronelle brings very strong analytical and problem solving skills together with proven budgeting, forecasting and general finance management. The majority of Ronelle’s roles have had components of technical accounting as well as strategic and/or a management focus. Her strong business acumen and commercial focus will further support the management team and enhance our finance systems.
Gemma joined Zenith in November 2012. With over 8 years administrative and customer service experience, Gemma provides front of house reception and provides valuable administration support to all divisions within Zenith.
Gemma previously worked for four years within the training and education sector in various administration and client management roles offering strong administrative support to team members and management. With her strong customer service background combined with her organizational and time management skills, Gemma is adept at providing high level administration support.
Louise joined Zenith in February 2015 and provides day to day administrative support to the research team.
With over 20 years administrative experience in the real estate, property development, legal and recruitment sectors, Louise is highly organised with a strong customer service focus.
Ruby joined Zenith Investment Partners in May 2016 and provides front of house reception and administration support to all departments within Zenith.
Ruby is currently completing a Bachelor of Commerce through Deakin University. She previously worked part-time at Watermark Intellectual Asset Management as a Corporate Receptionist providing general administrative support within the business.
Simon joined Zenith Investment Partners in January 2015. As the lead for our internal IT team, Simon is responsible for the design and development of the Zenith suite of applications which are core to our online services and integration capabilities.
Simon’s strength in agile software delivery comes from over 15 years of experience developing customer facing websites and mobile apps. His passion for innovation, user experience and cloud computing make Simon a welcome lead for our IT team.
Liam joined Zenith Investment partners in May 2013 as an analyst program. Liam is a keen adopter of new technologies and methodologies and he applies his knowledge to develop quality products for our customers and internal team.
Prior to his programming career, Liam ran a successful photography business for over ten years. After dabbling in web development, he quickly developed a passion for programming. And in 2010, Liam successfully completed Diploma of Information Technology (Software Development).
Branislav joined Zenith Investment Partners in June 2016. Bran has extensive experience in the IT industry providing technical support across servers, networks, desktop PC and Mac computers as well as a wide variety of other hardware and software.
With his strong problem solving ability and keen sense for technology, Bran is able to offer a superior level of IT support to our internal team which benefits a measurable productivity increase to the business.
